Storm the Wall 2017: Wrap-Up Video

Storm the Wall is North America's largest intramurals event, which takes place annually for one week in March, and features over 800 teams of 5-6 people racing to complete a swim, sprint, bike, run, and climb up a 12-foot wall together. As part of my role as Assistant Director of Media, I was assigned the role of lead editor for the wrap-up video, which is consistently UBC Rec's biggest and most circulated production each year.

In order to put together a successful wrap-up video, I worked together with my team to create a shot list that conveyed the fun, spirited, and inclusive nature of the event while also incorporating unique effects and transitions to capture the audience's attention. Our target demographic was primarily university-aged students who either participated in the event themselves or had friends who did so, and as such, the video needed to be fast-paced, exciting, and engaging. The video also required a quick turnover time of four days so as to capitalize on the excitement immediately felt after the event.

The result of this endeavour was an extremely successful video which managed to exhibit Storm the Wall's immense impact on the UBC student body as a whole.
How to Register for Storm the Wall

This video was created as part of my time as Assistant Director of Digital Media for UBC Rec. I assessed a need for simplified instructions on registration for intramurals events, and took initiative to fix this problem. The resulting project was an animation to help students register for Storm the Wall, North America’s largest intramurals event.
To date, this video has reached over 7,900 people on Facebook. It has helped to increase registration and secure the event’s reputation as an integral part of the UBC student experience.
